Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?

In short, products are placed onto the teeth and activated using our state of the art laser whitening system. Stains within the teeth are oxidised and removed bringing back your original white tooth colour. During this process there is no damage to the structure of the tooth or enamel and it is completely safe.

How much will my teeth whiten?

The amount of whitening is dependant on the individuals teeth and the type of staining. This will be discussed during your consultation. You should expect to see an improvement of up to eight shades, more is possible for badly stained teeth.

How long will the results last?

Typically, results last up to 18 months but this can be less depending on lifestyle habits. To avoid going through the expense of future treatments or to keep your teeth always looking at their best, we provide an optional home maintenance kit.

Will laser teeth whitening work for everyone?

Yes, excellent results can be seen if suitable for treatment. This is assessed during your consultation. You should expect up to an 8 shade improvement with more possible for darkly stained teeth.

What aftercare advice do I need to follow after treatment?

Following treatment it is advisable to avoid the use of staining foods, staining drinks and tobacco for the first 24 to 48 hours. We now stock electronic cigarettes to help during this time. We will provide you with full aftercare advice during your consultation.

How many treatments will I need?

Nearly all clients require just one laser teeth whitening treatment. For difficult cases or those which involve tetracycline antibiotic staining a second treatment may be required.

Is it safe?

Our procedure is 100% safe and does not cause damage to the tooth or enamel. We fully comply with the new 2012 European regulations. Furthermore, our products have been fully researched, tested and approved carrying the CE mark.

Does it hurt?

We avoid the use of peroxide whitening formulas which are known to cause sensitivity issues. Our laser teeth whitening system is also specifically designed to reduce the risk of sensitivity using cool blue technology. During this process there is no harm to the structure of the tooth or enamel. In the unlikely event sensitivity is experienced, this would be mild and temporary.

If I have crowns, can my teeth be whitened?

We regularly treat people who have crowns. In many cases, both clients teeth and crowns have stained over the years and whitening will bring back their original colour.

It will not be possible to whiten the crown further than its original fitted colour. If you are not happy with the colour of the original crown and are looking to replace them for a whiter smile you should always undergo teeth whitening first so that your new crown matches the shade of you newly whitened teeth.

Are lasers used during the treatment?

Chairside / in-clinic whitening treatments are often generically referred to as laser teeth whitening in the industry, yet lasers are not used. There are two main types of whitening machine either using an LED based system or Halogen. We use a Halogen based system which is clinically proven to offer better whitening results due to its higher power output.
